Summer Tours


The Westchester Lariats has gone on an annual summer tour since 1957. It is a privilege and great responsibility to go on tour as each dancer represents the group through her/his enthusiasm, dedication and maturity. A parent volunteer works as tour director, who plans, organizes and leads the tour with the help of parent chaperones. Each dancer and chaperone must pay his or her own expenses. Throughout the year, Lariats organizes several fundraising events to raise money for the tours.

Below are highlights of our past tours:

1996 Ireland: toured castles and performed at the Irish Derby
1997 Catalina/Ensenada, Mexico Cruise: performed on the cruise ship and in Catalina
1998 Utah: visited Salt Lake City and stayed at a dude ranch
1999 Australia: traveled from the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne
2000 California Coastal Lighthouse Tour: performed at Solvang, Hearst Castle and San Francisco
2001 Hawaii: stayed at Waikiki Beach in Honolulu and La Haina, Maui. Performed at the Dole Plantation Visitor Center.
2002 Seattle, Washington: visited Seattle, Mount St. Helens, Port Townsend and the San Juan Islands.
2003 France: visited Normandy D-Day Beaches, Mont St. Michel and stayed 7 days in Paris, where they performed at Disney Paris.
2004 Cancun:Visited Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico where they visited Mayan ruins, ecological parks and performed for the municipal government of Cancun.
2005 The summer of 2005 took  the Lariats to The Gold Country of Northern California where they visited the Redwoods, The State Capitol and San Francisco.
2006 Our 2006 Ohana Tour was spent on Kauai, Hawaii where we swam with turtles, surfed,
zip lined and did two performances.  Aloha!
